CYBER BULLYING

Cyber Bullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. Ad it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to combat cyber bullying. Examples of what constitutes cyber bullying include communications that seek to intimidate, control, manipulate, put down, falsely discredit, or humiliate the recipient.

The actions are deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior intended to harm others. Cyber bullying has been defined by The Nationals Crime Prevention Council: “When the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person”.

Brainstorming worksheet:

When planning your submission(s), it is important to think about the theme, “Cyber bullying” in many different ways. In other words, try to think about the following…

Who are my neigbors or classmates? Do I really know them?

Do I know their ” stories” – their journeys in life? Do I understand where they used to live and what they want to do next?

Do I know what they like to listen to, eat, when/ what  their cultural/religious holiday are, etc?

What cultural do I see in my neighborhood?

What parts of other cultural do I understand? What do I not understand?

From what culture or belief system might they subscribe?

Why do I like/ respect my neighbor/classmate if they are not like me?

In appreciating and promoting neighborliness, what impact will I make/have in my home, school, and/or community?

How would the world be different if everyone respected their neighbor?

Why do I like everybody to understand, accept and respect their neighbors?

What makes my neighbors? Why?

Do these same things make me happy? Are the some things hard for me to deal with?

Why does it matter whether or not I try to understand my neighbors?

The theme of ” Cyber Bullying” means much more than thinking that one knows what people around us go through every day. When composing your work, feel free to be creative. Just remember that whatever type of submission you choose, you want to create a work that makes the reader think and realize the theme and why it is important to consider in today’s global context.
